If you think this post is going to be about my kiasuness and my constant need to win, you’re wrong. But I am super proud of you for knowing me that well. Hahahah! ;D
I think I mentioned somewhere in this blog that I am toning down on the shopping to declutter my life. That also includes my addiction towards buying skincare stuff. I do binge watch beauty Youtubers before bed (when I’m not flat on my face, snoozin away) and can’t help but get sucked into the “I too need those creams and toners and a bajillion products in small dropper bottles to look like Miranda Kerr”. *aggressively pat products onto face*
So new rule: only buy when I’m done with the current ones before testing out something else. Isn’t it like.. common sense – to finish the product first then buy? *weak chuckles* Nope. Marketing is made for the weaklings, honey. Yeap, I am the President of the Weaklings. I currently have 7 toners, 5 moisturizers, 4 hydrating serums, 2 radiance serums, 2 chemical peels, 5 cleansers, …. so yea, you get the picture.
I want to proudly share with you some of my skincare empties so when you see me prancing happily out of Sephora, you can’t be throwing rotten tomatoes at me while shouting “hypocrite” at the top of your lungs.
The product review will definitely age you so if you don’t want to read on, just skip to the one-liner verdict. If even the one-liner kills you, I guess that’s just nature’s way of saying; there’s no need for you to continue your lineage. It ends here.
It’s a shampoo which scent pisses my sisters off. They’re clearly not used to this kind of fanciness. *insert fancy monocle emoji here* I mean, it’s a botanical shampoo so it smells like herbs and honestly, very British. <- not being a racist here but even my Brit friends said so. But in all seriousness, a no-nonsense shampoo and did not make my hair fall off as much. The shampoo is suitable for all hair types but you can choose the conditioner that suits your need.
So….. yeah… I need some help to give some strength to my hair. Born with such fine hair, they can get quite hmmm,… what’s the word… mengada (spoilt)? Yes, let’s go with mengada. They need some extra TLC. So this supplement really helped. I have another box and so far, my hair is lovin this! I think they have a few types of supplements addressing different concerns.
And I got this from CultBeauty and they ship to Malaysia for free for orders above £40.
I’m honestly kinda on the fence on this one. I don’t think this one bottle was enough for me to tell whether it was working or not. I was using this instead of my usual Khiel’s Clearly Corrective serum but can’t say the result is much much more impressive (although the price tag on this one is choking my bank account slightly). But this and the emulsion made a good combo. Oh, but I got this one from Hong Kong and their summer sale is intense! You can even get this baby (and so many other skincare/makeup babies) at massive discounts!!
Verdict: 😶 (Indifferent)
This serum is so good! I hate it when I’m rushing to go to work but I need to pile on all my skincare stuff quickly, but they get absorbed very slowly leaving me with a ridiculous mess on my face. This one, absorbed super quickly and is very lightweight. It is meant to lighten the spots and hydrate. I think it did a pretty decent job at it.
Verdict: 😀 (“like” but need more data to say “love”)
I gave this one a shot in replacement of my Clinique Take the Day Off Balm. It’s slightly cheaper than the Clinique one and I guess cleansing power (sound like some detergent but you get my point) is about the same. This one smells nicer than Clinique and it melts relatively easily too. I know I’m not much of a help here but either one is okay.
I heard so many beauty gurus raved about this brand so I wanted to join the bandwagon. This was my second bottle. This new one seems more potent than the first one I fell in love with. I don’t know why exactly but I prefer the runnier one. This is one of their bestsellers and is always out of stock on Cult Beauty. I’d suggest if you can’t splurge on the Kiehl’s serum, this can be a dupe of some sort. It helped to remove my acne scar and even out my skin tone.
I am quite conflicted with this one. The main function is to hydrate but I honestly can’t tell if it is working or not. I use quite a heavy moisturizer so I can’t really say whether it was hydrating or not. Honestly, I got this because the Alpha Arbutin one was out of stock and waiting list took so long. Yeap, this was the rebound serum. Sorry.
8. StriVectin Eye Concentrate
I was hooked as the product packaging said it removes dark circle but I guess it’s too early to tell. sigh. maybe won’t be buying for now as I have 3 others to try before circulating back to this one. Will report back on how did the rest do.
It’s lightweight and has a very calming scent. I used to leave this in the office so that after prayer, I’ll apply this emulsion before reapplying my makeup. Definitely felt more energized but can’t really comment on the hydrating promise. The brightening properties are quite visible. Especially combined with the Tri-Active Serum. In conclusion, I love Clarins but I can’t say this is a cannot-live-without product for me.
Okay, done for the night. I’m going to put on my face mask and have some quiet movie night with my fam. Have a great weekend peeps!
